My First Public Street Performance

The Really, Really Free Market is a monthly event organized by local anarchists where people donate whatever they no longer need, and others are free to pickup what they want for free. For more information about the Free Market or to get involved, visit their facebook page.

The event happened from 1-3 PM but actually continued until 3:30ish. I got set up and started playing a couple of minutes after 2 PM. In all, I ended up playing about one hour, 35 minutes. It was fun. I didn't set up a donation bucket so there was no expectation of donations. I did receive other rewards. I saw one guy tapping his foot, I saw a woman walking down the other side of the street and either smiling or laughing which I think was caused by my playing. It was also interesting how people would ignore me or avoid eye contact. After I finished playing, one person (and possibly more) briefly clapped. Then four of the anarchists came up to me and thanked me for playing.

So it was a success. No police harassment. Also my battery pack lasted the entire performance powering 3 foot pedals and an amplifier. I was happy about that.

Here are the complete unedited recordings:

Part 1 (15 minutes)
A guy asked me if my guitar was in tune, that's when I played an "E" chord. He wanted to borrow my guitar to show me how it was done, I said no thanks.

Part 2 (1 hour)
35 minutes into Part 2, a kid asked to borrow my guitar and he played a bit of a Blink 182 song.

Part 3 (25 minutes)

I'm not a really big R & B kind of guy, but I believe this is the best live show I've ever seen. Eryka's voice is precise and flawless, she is graceful and has a very dynamic way of dancing while she sings. I've been describing it to friends as grand and muted. Her movements were also synchronized with the light show. She is a thrill to watch.
